Speeches / SPEECH; My great grandfather Georg of Riga [2]
Since I was a little baby my father has told me about his grandfather youth. My great-grandfather Georg was born in Riga in 1917. When he was only a young man he was drafted in army. He was one of those boys who fighted for Latvia at Second World War. Because of war my great-grandfather can't hear with one ear and he almost lost his leg when he stepped on bomb, luckily he and his leg survived.
He met my great-grandmother Ruta and after a half-year they got married. The war was over and they left Riga and moved to Prauliena. Last year they had celebrate their 65 wedding anniversary. Now they are still happily married and spending their old-ages in Lazdona.
My great-grandfather is my hero, because of him I can live in free Latvia today!
