Letters / I decided to focus on the wind energy; PhD COVER LETTER- Renewable Energy [4]
Dear Madam / Sir,
During my Master degree studies in Economics, guided by a strong will to bring a contribution towards development of the renewable energy sector, I tried to direct my curriculum accordingly. I decided to focus on the wind energy - an ubiquitous, everlasting and emission-free source of energy, where much should be done to make it more efficient and popular amongst other energy sources. I found a way to contribute to this issue and at the same - to extend my competence in the offshore wind farm development by working as a Research Assistant at yyy Institute, Germany. I was working under guidance and supervision of Dr. XXX at the wind resource assessment research group, penetrating the issues in the wind resource measurement campaign effectiveness for an offshore wind farm development and financing. Findings of my research work in cooperation with the yyy were presented at the EWEA EUROPE'S PREMIER WIND ENERGY EVENT 2013.
As a research assistant at yyy, I got acquainted with the common wind measurement technologies, methods and standards applied with a special regard to remote sensing technologies as LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging). At YYY I had a chance to follow a naissance of an innovative wind measurement concept, based on a floating LIDAR technology - to be applied in wind resource assessment campaigns for offshore wind farm development. My tasks involved determination of the most efficient solution for a wind resource assessment campaign in offshore conditions with an optimal measurement uncertainty provided and with the least costs for measurement campaign establishment. A significant part of my work was devoted to studying and assessing the potential factors impacting wind resource measurement uncertainty in the offshore conditions, applying different wind resource assessment approach and technologies.
At yyyy I gained an experience as well in wind resource assessment with WAsP computational fluid dynamics package to estimate the most optimal wind farm layout proposals with the least energy yield losses and impact of the wake effect, which has attracted most of my interest.
I am certainly willing to bring my competences forward and to pursue my professional growth in the field of wind energy. If chosen for the desired associate's position, I would be glad to contribute my potential by working at the forefront of R&D in the wind energy analysis, which might impact the whole wind energy sector. The XXX Services is one of the best known Wind Energy consultancy providers with the high expertise in remote sensing technologies and on the issues in the offshore wind resource assessment I am already familiar with.
Publications on my work in regard to the wind resource assessment might be provided upon request. I thank you for considering my application and looking forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Yours sincerely,
