Writing Feedback / Success in life usually requires planning and preparation - (English 12 Assignment) [5]
Using Standard English, write a coherent, unified, multi-paragraph (three or more paragraphs) composition of at least 300 words, on this topic: Success in life usually requires planning and preparation.
Learning the lessons taught by failure is the essence to a successful life. Some people believe planning allows an individual to succeed in life. However I strongly oppose this statement as I believe that it is failure and experience that pushes a person to succeed. An example that supports this would be my brother who was not chosen for the soccer team so he constantly trained till he reached his goal. Samsung, the popular South Korean company, is another example of a success that arose from learning from failure, though in this case Samsung learned from the failures of its competitors.
My brother eyed a spot in the district soccer team so he set up a rigid practice schedule and planned exercise routines for two months. Unfortunately he didn't pass the second cut but this failure provided an opportunity for my brother to identify and eliminate his weaknesses. He was motivated and determined as he ironed out miniscule flaws in his playing style. Eventually all the effort paid off when he was chosen for the district team in the following year.
Unlike my brother who learnt from his failure immediately and constantly worked on improving his soccer skills, the South Korean company, Samsung, faced criticism since it globalised into electronics in the late 1990s. Samsung has succeeded by studying the failures of other companies in order to help it innovate its technology and business strategy. Samsung identified and solved the problem of their cell phone market being too generalized by targeting fans' needs and expanding it to overseas markets. Suddenly, Samsung's "Galaxy S" lineup was appreciated by fans and critics all over the world, and now Samsung's dominance in the smartphone industry is undeniably influential.
Although planning and preparation were involved with the above examples, adapting and improving from failure was the key to success. Failure is often seen as embarrassing, something to be denied and hidden. But if an individual, organization, or even a person is strong enough to face and study failure, then that failure can lead a person or company to success. The examples of personal experiences and business demonstrate that failure can be the best catalyst of success, but only if they have the courage to face it.
