Undergraduate / I can easily adapt to a new environment; Transfer College Essay [4]

I, like most, have been unstable during my first two years in college. I transferred from Saint Michael's College in Vermont to University of Massachusetts Boston in my second semester in college. Most people would assume that it was difficult to adapt from the suburban, quiet, and a small size college to the urban, noisy, diverse, and huge size university. However, because I was once an immigrant, I guess I have more advantage than other people.

Therefore, I can easily adapted to a new environment; quicker than most of people. I can't say that I am not happy in both colleges. In fact, I loved both colleges that I attended. First, Saint Michael's was a great college with smaller class size, friendly students, and of course helpful professors. You properly wonder, if it was that great, why did I transfer? Yes, my prior reason was because during that time my grandmother was in her final stage of lung cancer so it was too difficult for me to come visit her every week since the gap between two destinations was not that close.

I was going to applied to your college. However, the decision I made was late and the deadline already passed two weeks. Nonetheless, I was joyous as an Umass Boston student. I enjoyed my new life with a new environment in a bigger and larger city. I met my Asian friends and was able to have my own social relationship that I had never experiment before. I also got my second job as an animal laboratory assistant, and what more I was able to visit my grandmother every week with the car-pool from my aunt. Soon, after my grandmother passed away this summer, I decided that I have to study as hard as I could in order to graduate early. I took as many credits as I could and then realized that my grades weren't going too well as I predicted them to be. I took a second to think back and I finally found a reasons- I spend too much times with my social relationship and had totally forgot about my classes.

Now that I am in my sophomore year going to junior, my thinking began to change. "I now know that I desire to be at a university that values knowledge to the same degree that I do," I told myself. Therefore, I firmly believe that I belong to a university that have an active spirit of studying, a new environment, a fresh start which I want to go back to my older self, a person who eagerly wants to study than most people and what most important is my instinct tell me that I will be happiest there.

Please make some edition for me because I know I have a lot of grammar mistakes. I will appreciate it! Thank You

Undergraduate / I can easily adapt to a new environment; Transfer College Essay [4]

Thank You So Much! I change my essay a bit. Can you please make some comments? Thanks again!

My second semester of college, I transferred from Saint Michael's College in Vermont to the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Most people would assume that it was difficult for me to adapt from a small college in quiet suburbs to a huge, diverse university in a noisy city. However, because I had some experience in relocating when I immigrated to United States from Vietnam, I easily adapted to the new environment. In fact, I loved both of the colleges that I attended. Saint Michael's had a smaller class size and amazing students and professors. I met interesting people from around the world, joined in Vietnamese community, and became fascinated with a new environment in a bigger city in Umass Boston.

Now that I am in my sophomore year going to junior year, I soon came to realize that the school does not offer the exact major I now hope to pursue. I'm majoring in Biology, but the program in Umass Boston is strongly focused business management and culture. Unknowingly, I am interesting in medical field more and more. When I heard from my friend who are currently attending Umass Amherst, I was impressed by the offer it has in a biology and Health Science major. I hope to broaden and deepen my knowledge in biology by attending Umass Amherst, participate in more summer internship, volunteer at clinic, and eventually go to the medical school.

I have made many good friends at Umass Boston, and enjoy the city environment. However, I do have two non-academic reasons for being interest in Umass Amherst. I applied to Umass Boston because I wanted to visit my grandmother every week since she was in her final stage of lung cancer and I also wanted to get experience in urban environment- I come from a small town in West Springfield. Now that I been in Boston for over one year, I find myself don't belong here. I am more comfortable with suburbs, and Umass Amherst would be a great match for me.

Another reason is I realized that I was starting to sacrifice my schoolwork for my social life and my grades starting to slip. Therefore, I firmly believe that I want to belong to a university that has an active spirit of studying, a new environment, and a fresh start.

As my transcript shows, I had done well at my secondary school and at Saint Michael's College but my grades started to slip when I am in Boston. I am convinced I would grow, do well at Umass Amherst, and your program in Biology perfectly match my goals.
