Undergraduate / My reason for becoming a nurse is the passion in my heart and soul for helping others [2]
Why am I pursuing a career as a nurse?
My reason for becoming a nurse is the passion in my heart and soul for helping others. To be a nurse will be a great honor for me because I will have a major part in helping people. I have a passion for learning about the human body. There are many different types of nurses out there. My specialty of nursing that I want to go in to will be that of Cardiology Pediatric Nursing, or Labor and Delivery.
The reason I want to become a Cardiology Pediatric Nurse is because my son had Tetralogy of Fallot. He was diagnosed with this in the womb so we had time to get specialists in my prenatal care. After he was born he was in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit for almost a week. He went to see his cardiologist every week to evaluate his Oxygen in his body. At about one and a half months he had surgery to fix it because his oxygen was too low. When I went in to see him the nurse was considerate, passionate, and knowledgeable about my son and his care. Every nurse that was caring for my son seemed like they were caring for me. Helping families that have to go through seeing their child have such a major surgery at such a young age.
Having children was one of my greatest moments in my life. Having that nurse there with me when I was in labor, after delivery and to help in the days that I was in the hospital was amazing. No matter what I have needed they were there to help me. On one of my child biths I went in at 2:30 in the morning and had no time for the epidural. My baby came fast and strong and from the moment I walked thru those doors to the moment I fell asleep after I had my baby the nurse was with me. I remember for saying sorry I was so loud and she laughed and said no you were one of the quietist ones we have had. I want to be on the other side to be able to help mothers that need someone to be there for them before, during, and after child birth.
I have gone to school for CNA and Medical Assisting. I am a caregiver right now at an adult foster home, caring for people that have mental disorders. The happiness that I get from helping people is very rewarding. Wanting to know more about the human body and what we can do to help it is very fascinating to me. This is not just a career change for me it's a life style change for me. "When you are a nurse you know that every day you will touch a life or a life will touch yours"- Author Unknown
