STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Sanjeet Limbu
The abundance of technological innovations achieved so far and the possibilities ahead intrigues me from a young age, and urge me to contribute my part. The creativity and excitement involved while working for new vehicle launches, motivates me to pursue further research in the automotive field. My aspiration to become an expert in this field has driven me to pursue graduate studies in mechanical engineering.
At Purdue University I intend to study Systems, Measurement and Control as concentration in mechanical engineering. I look forward to developing skills and contribute to Optimizing Powertrain Systems, Powertrain Diagnostics & Control Strategies. The Ray W. Herrick Laboratories and the Engine Controls Laboratory are exceptionally advantageous for research in this field.
I am fascinated by Prof. Gregory M. Shaver's research on powertrain control and incorporation of IC engines in hybrid power trains. Likewise, I am also interested in Prof. Monika's research group project in Powertrain Control Strategies, for performance optimization through simulation on Matlab platform and the Powertrain Testing. If I am given an opportunity, these will be complementing my expertise as an automotive researcher.
Coming from a Military family, I feel a sense of discipline and upfront enthusiasm for my ambitions. My engineering career can be traced back to my mother's influence, which helped me become an excellent student during my formative years. Then onwards, clearing a competitive exam has brought me to National Institute of Technology Patna.
There, I acquired core knowledge in IC Engine, Dynamic of Machinery and Instrumentation & Measurement, to name a few. My thesis was 'Diesel Technology' wherein I demonstrated a sustainable options for diesel engines. My work involved a case study of engine technologies offering cleaner drive, which instilled in me the passion for research in sustainable engine technologies.
Currently, I am associated with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd as an Assistant Manager on the Automotive Product Development team. I supervise Electric Vehicle projects, and I am responsible for handling the Vehicle Integration. My role includes System Design, Vehicle Layout Assessment and Performance Validation Support, which demands analytical and creative skills. My work allows me to appreciate the importance of research and the amount of effort required to transform ideas become reality.
Consequently, my work has been awarded an 'outstanding effort certificate' for the value engineering. Working with leading sustainable mobility researchers sparked a confidence in me to pursue innovative projects. After a quality exposure in the Automotive Industry, I am dedicated towards a career in research in this field.
As a rule, I believe in change as part of life, thus focus in reinventing and perfecting oneself for challenges and aspiration ahead. Above all, my ambition is to deliver an effective contribution to automotive technology as a researcher, and as a result, benefiting society as well. This demands a perfection in research dedication and innovative skills through an intellectual development based education. I believe Purdue University will help me enrich my knowledge and enhance expertise for research in this field, bringing me closer to my goals.
