Undergraduate / How should we react with an exchange opportunity? ; U.S. Perspectives essay tips [2]

Hi guys, I wrote an essay to a program which I am applying, the program is the Science Without Borders. In this essay "U.S. Perspectives" I must write an essay until 500 words telling about my perspectives in USA, of course, and why should I be selected to the exchange and how this is going to help Brazil (my country) in the future. I would like to know your sincere opinion about my essay.

"How should we react with an exchange opportunity? Well, the answer to this question it is easy to respond. We must give our best to grab it. I always have been fascinated with the diversity of cultures around the world, the variety of accents, foods, music, dance and the many different ways to say the same word. The possibility to study in United States will give me the privilege to be in contact with one of the most interesting commonwealths in the world, and sure, learn more about them, learn more with them... Thus, when I return to Brazil, I will contribute not only with academic knowledge, but also with other cultural habits.

The north American system of education is recognized through the continents for its excellence, efficiency, innovation and consistency. These characteristics provide to the students a large range of point of views, and chances to develop new technologies, beyond the facility of get into the scientific research really early, thereby, giving all necessary support to the students develop themselves as professionals. Unfortunately, in the major part of the world, the education has a lack in many aspects, including Brazil. Studying in U.S. will give me the necessary skills to take the first steps in changing this reality. At the end of the program I hope be able to share all the experience and academic values acquired not only with the student community, but mainly to the society, helping in any way in its progress and evolution by getting the chance to know the north American methods of education.

Staying away from friends, parents and relatives can hurt a little bit, but at this period the maturity gets an extreme improvement. Being in contact with a brand new environment and also with international people, which is very unusual in Brazil, it will be the perfect occasion to develop my communication and sharing new ideas. In Brazil only 8% of teenagers speak fluent English, and the reasons might be connected with the fact of many children do not have necessary resources to pay for an additional language course, so with no doubt the perfectioning of this language it will be a great differential in my career, beyond the bonus of being able to teach people who had not the same opportunities I did. The extracurricular activities at U.S. university are simply motivating, we can find since sports until volunteer work, this is an amazing chance to discover new hobbies or new abilities and I am looking forward to enjoying it as much as I can.

Although being recognized as a big potency in growth, Brazil has a deficit in technological and scientific development which requires changes in its structure to keep up walking towards the progress. Finally, the Science Without Borders program is allowing to the students expand their academic knowledge and giving new perspectives about how to benefit the nation and I am sure I'm not the only one who is willing to help Brazil in this new phase." Thanks for the feedback
