Writing Feedback / It is believed by many that women should decide whether to have an offspring or not [4]
"Fatherhood ought to be emphasized as much as motherhood. The idea that women are solely responsible for deciding whether or not to have babies leads on to the idea that they are also responsible for bringing the children up"
It is believed by many that women should decide whether to have an offspring or not. Thus it raises the concept that it is also only her responsibility to raise them properly. But in my opinion, in order to look after the infants, both father and mother should work together to bond a healthy and stable family.
First and foremost, we need to define what a family is. A family is just like any institution that is formed by a husband and a wife to raise up their next generation. It has it's own constitution although it may vary from families to families. Any crucial decision for the family should be made by both parents. Firstly, having a children is one of the most important factors a family may consider. It is both father's and mother's duty to take care of the youngster well as providing them value, morality and ethics. The child also need supports from economic and social perspective. However, a family could be split up because of divorce, demise of either one or both of the parents or for career reasons. As a result, they tend to grow up under a single mother or father or by other family members. Except these conditions, a father is just as important as mother to the family.
Secondly, children need both their parents financial and emotional support. Absence or less care by any parent may hamper the children's physical and mental growth. A recent research by American economists suggested that, infants with a single parent or no parent have a higher risk of juvenile delinquency. Lack of a healthy and stable life may also drive them to commit serious crimes in later life. On the other hand, kids from a happy and healthy family tend to do better in school, college and are most likely to have a successful life. Last but not least, some other factors also play an important role that leads women to believe having a children is only their responsibility such as, social, cultural, political, economical and religious factors.
For the reasons mentioned above, it is clear that a child needs both parent to have a better life near future. That's why, it is not only mother's decision and responsibility but also fatheer's role is not avoidable at all.
(Please check if I've wrote something irrelevant or focused on family/children rather than on fatherhood/motherhood. Also give a score please. Thanks in advance.)
