SOP for MS in Petroleum Engineering

Hi,

Can you please help me with the SOP for applying Masters in Petro?
I have posted my SOP here. Please let me know your feedback.
I am a chemical engineering graduate with 3 years experience in Fisher Control Valves. Planning to apply for MS in petro.

"Follow your passion, be prepared to work hard and sacrifice, and, above all, and don't let anyone limit your dreams." - Donovan Bailey

An instinctive liking towards science and a passion towards technology motivated me to choose engineering as a profession. At a very young age I was having ideas to make new products, new inventions & develop new processes which can be helpful to create useful products from a raw material. After completing my high school when I was about to choose a career path within engineering, Chemical Engineering was the field which I found to be more interesting and the one which could take me forward towards my passion.

My undergraduate education in Chemical Engineering taught me a lot of core processes and principles which are being applied in the process Industries. After attaining good knowledge on unit operations. In my third year of engineering studies, I started working on a project "Design & Development of MOBI ELIXIR FILT" the concept of designing a Travel Water Purifier. We took filtration & adsorption as the basic process. Then we worked on the design of the adsorption bed such that it can fit inside a water bottle & can be made portable. This concept was developed as a research paper and presented over a number of institutions in India. This concept was well recognized by those institutions where they awarded "The Best Paper Award".

In my Final year of study, I did a project on "Column studies for Chromium removal from aqueous waste water using Chitosan as Biosorbent" a process which is aimed at treating effluent waste water from Leather industries. The project was funded by The Department of Science and Technology, India". My four years of study in Chemical Engineering laid a strong foundation to my professional career. I was recruited as an Application Engineer for Fisher control valves in Emerson Process Management. My role was to handle the Maintenance, repair & operations (MRO) requests from major customers including Chevron, BP, Total, Safer and NOC's like ADNOC, Sirte Oil Company, Zueitina Oil Company, Cabinda gulf Oil Company which are based in Middle East & Africa. I frequently travelled to Dubai during my tenure in Emerson. Those business trips made me to understand the customer pain points, requirements and the site issues faced in the oil & gas, refining industries. As most of the industries in Middle East & Africa are petroleum based, I am glad that many basic chemical engineering processes finds great application in Oil & Gas/ refining industries.

I attended an expertise program conducted by Oil & Gas/ Refinery Industry schools as a part of Industrial expertise development program organised by Global Industrial Sales group of Fisher. Most of the processes were taught and I was able gain in-depth knowledge of the processes carried out in these industries. The acquired knowledge & curiosity made me to opt for petroleum industry and study further on this. My job responsibilities also include requests from customers where the selection of products used in the plant were causing issues to the process carried out & the desired output. Based up on the work experience which I gained from a product based company & with all the knowledge I have in selecting the best product/component for a process. I hope I can serve the best for the petroleum industry in terms of optimizing a process to attain efficient results.

I feel unlucky that I had less real time experience to deal with the site issues faced in the petroleum industries. I decided to move on and study further on this ever challenging field. Petroleum engineering course in University of XXX has a rich history of producing the best Petroleum Engineers in the world for more than 50 years. I am highly inspired to apply for your premiere institution which I believe will provide me endless opportunities to transform my dreams into reality.

Thank you for your consideration on my application. I am looking forward to an inspiring and fruitful association with your university.

Regards,
Navaneeth
