Undergraduate / Different view from a teacher or employer during a performance evaluation process [3]

In 250 words or less, provide an example of when your point of view differed from a teacher or employer during an evaluation of your performance. How did you handle the situation?

While in art class, sketchbooks were due once a week. One of the assignments was to draw a "your choice". This meant anything of your choosing. This week I chose a beautiful picture of a nude women crying from torso up. I finished the drawing and turned it in thinking what I had done would surely please my teacher. I was wrong. I was given my drawing back receiving an "F". I confronted my teacher after class about my grade. She assured me the drawing was very good and wished she could have given me an "A", but decided since the exposed breasts were inappropriate that it did not deserve the praise of being given points. I always try to understand others point of view before questioning them, but I was not understanding this. She then gave me the opportunity to redo the drawing, but this time covering the breasts. I thought of course so I wouldn't fail the assignment, but then realized by covering the breasts I would be destroying the beauty of it. The nude figure showed an exposed expression that clothes would have covered. I then thanked her for the opportunity, but respectfully turned down the offer and accepted the "F". I love hearing criticism, whether it is good or bad, but in the end I will always stay true to my own vision and myself. That is just who I am.
