Research Papers / 'Managing time between distraction' - it's a research essay on time management [2]

It is a research essay on time management (main priority is grammer and proper MLA quoting format)

My research led me to discover myself and think deeper about my future. As a college freshman I often found myself troubling managing my time, a full time student with a part time job and friends that call for my attention, I find myself thinking if college is too much for some of us. So I ask, is time management what life is all about? With many of my friends (now freshman) entering academic probation because of poor time management I trouble myself to not enter the same predicament. Entering such state in a college does not only initiate the fall of a college carrier but more often than not the fall of a stable future.

Like many good questions mine raise even more question. The relationship a successful life and time management was clear, losing focus on what's important for the sake of prioritizing other matters leads to mistakes which later leads to disaster. So what makes even the smarter people to lose track of time management? To truly understand the answer we must understand why it happens in the first place?

My most use type of reference was interviews done by myself, full direct quotes from firsthand experience people that help me understand why people lose focus in time and pay more attention to other things. The first of this was an interview conducted by myself to one of my closest friend Kevin Barney I must confess coming into the interview was tense and terrified I didn't know what to expect, but as the interview started we both tension started to decrease and we both felt free to speak. Kevin Who like many college student got kick out of college after being in academic probation is now struggling to find a four year college to accept him even yet Kevin has excellent grades in community college his past actions have diminish his credibility to manage college. Barney states in the interview "for once it was freedom first time ever been away from parents I thought I could handle it, I thought wrong, my poor decision lead me to be where I am now." (Barney),

After the emotional interview, I found myself reflecting on what it could've be for Kevin to what the future is holding for him now. Before the end of the interview Barney states "social pressure in college demands an extreme amount of time and how you handle that time would determine your future in college." (Barney). Kevin poor time management led him to be college dropout and took away from a brighter future.

Most adults who study have struggle to manage their time having family work and social obligation leave little time for people to truly focus in one thing. Jim Sulski from the Chicago tribune in his article "Time Management Key to Sharpening study Skills Programs Offer Older Students Formula for Success" he states that a simple way of implementing time management is for students to 'map out their semester,' Pat Varga" (Sulski). Varga has a crucial idea on how time management work. Having a clear vision on the end result is key to success in life, this philosophy does not only apply to academics only but every aspect that anyone can imagine, and having that clear path can guaranty a successful future all the way.

Not only does time management help you solve problems in life but it gives you satisfactory results, according to Herzlich Jaime from the Chicago tribune and her article "planning key in managing time" she states "the key to effective time management is distinguishing between what's important and what's not" (Jaime). Many of us forget what's key and that is why they fail to achieve to the top goal. Peter Turla explains is like having too many things in a plate by doing so they forget about the main ingredient (Turla). Turla valid point about having one clear goal to focus is a valuable asset that guarantee the success in life.

From there I move to my second interview now a high school professor and my former mentor a person that can not only talk how he uses time management but how other succeed because they know how to time manage their time . Mr. Juan Tinoco now a teacher at the Riverside Brookfield high school states "Those who can balance between academics and fun are the ones that usually succeed in my class."(Tinoco). Tinoco has been a teacher for 10 years and from experience I can say that he does not only teach his student just the necessary material to teach a class but he also focus on life lessons that would guarantee and person success. In the interview Tinoco father states "having a family to take care plus 180 students that require my attention would be hard without a time plan, without it I would surely fail."(Tinoco).Tinoco has succeed in life in many ways and that has certainly pay off, now Mr. Tinoco is not only a High school teacher a son and father but a student at the University of DePaul working towards his master and I'm sure with his time management skill he will surely make it.

The next step in my research was to incorporate two similar paper one written by Sue, Shellenbarger. In the Wall Street Journal name "How to Cram more into 24 Hours" and the second one written by Craig Lyn. In the Journal of family and economic issues title "How Employed Mothers in Australia Find Time for Both Market Work and Childcare" Craig Lyn paper focus how time management between work and home is divided she soon found out that "mothers reduce their parental childcare time by much less than an hour for every hour they spend in market work" Lyn explains that working too hard can lead to separation in the family she also found out that "mother spend less time in housework." Poor time management often led to break in family and self-neglect. In the other hand Shellenbarger sue in her article talks about the synch family and how they manage their time, the synch found a way to use technology in their advantage Sue claims that " while using technology to manage family life might seem to risk turning everyone into robots, parents say the tools help the keep in control" (Sue) the family been a very active one found very hard trying to communicate with each other but technology makes that easy, doing so they make sure that the integrity of the family is kept together. They like many other families make sure that they have a clear vision and a singular goal been successful but not jeopardizing the integrity of their personal life.

It is now that my answer to my question flourish, today's world is fill with many distraction and some good and some bad but nonetheless with must pay attention to all. Managing time between distraction and what is important is top priority if someone wishes to succeed. Furthermore using today's technology to make sure everything in the colander gets done is essential. This is only a one of many keys to succeed in life but nevertheless is one of them and mastering is essential if one wishes to open the door for a better life. Today we humans are fill with media such as Facebook and twitter are just nothing but blurrier to see the final product, and we all must make sure that we don't get caught in a loop that would stop us from archiving our goals. Looking back to where I started I can honestly say that my time skills have grown tremendously not only know what I have to do but all the interview and all the articles I research help understand that it is possible if only I can see the end result.
