Letters / Letter or motivation for a Msc in Supply Chain at Jacobs University in Germany [2]
Hello
My name is Carlos Im from Venezuela and I and writing a letter of motivation for submitting to a application for a Msc in Supply Chain and Managment at the Jacobs University. this is my draft of letter, maybe you can help me to improve a little bit. Thanks guys
Dear Sir
I am Carlos Cabrera, motivated Professional in Venezuela. I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself at your university in order to apply for the MSc in Supply Chain and Managment at the Jacobs University. With my educational background as well as my working experience in the Oil&Gas area, I strongly believe that I am a suitable candidate for the programme.
Since my high school days I have developed strong interests for the issues regarding Science, especially specially chemical science as I advocate the opinion that the Chemistry is everything and is a motor for stronger international development. That is why I enrolled myself at the University of Carabobo, where I graduated as Chemical Engineer. Therefore, I would like to apply for this Master and at the same time for a scholarship at the University's fund. In this moment, I do not have sufficient funds for the tuition fees and to cover living expenses but, I believe that my competences and academic records recommend me for the limited number of placements at the University.
I should mention that I have been working in scale-up of refining processes for more than eight years at PDVSA Intevep, from the bank of ideas up to the demostrative scale and pre-commercial stage.
During my studies at the University of Carabobo, I have developed special interest for the Organic Chemistry, I succeed in been a Laboratory Teacher Assistance for more than two years. However, I wanted to combine those interests as a Laboratory Teacher and Process Engineer, where I am currently employed. PDVSA Intevep is one of the most reputable research and development institutes in Latin America, among the institutes with Research and Development, as their main topics of research activity. As I have proven my skills in topics like running test execution-scale pilot plants, setting optimal specifications for major equipments involved in the refining process.
As a Process Engineer I have been involved in optimizing process and modeling processes, performing risk assessments, and analyzing the latest international policies related to Oil Refinery. One of my most favorable activities was my participation on the Interfuel Competition Model for Electricity Generation in Venezuela, used for perform technical and economic assessment to determine competence of fuels: natural gas, liquid hydrocarbons, coke and coal in electricity generation under the concept of "energy efficiency". I had the oportunity to work on this model for more than two years with a team of researchers, analysts and the vice-minister of Energy in Venezuela, project carried out in the same Ministry of Energy. After several practices and tests, the model revealed surprisingly good application for analyzing the best way to trade the energy as a hydrocarbon molecule or electron from electricity, this project was presented at the World Gas Conference in 2012 in Koala Lumpur, Malasya.
This working experience has provided me a deeper awareness of the importance of being competent in various spheres of technical research: Process Development, Research and Scale-up. I am deeply convinced that all those spheres make a process engineer to be complete expert in this field of research. The understanding of this fact and a strong aspiration to become highly qualified researcher of international level, led me to apply for the position at your University, as the Jacobs University has a good reputation in the area.
Having read carefully the description of the programme and the requirements, I believe that it matches with my research interests and profile. Also, after searching further information about the University, I believe that I will be positive addition to the Master and fit well in your organization and be a useful member of the community.
As I understand, this programme is very competitive, attracting highly motivated students, but I am convinced that my good record at the University and my experience with all projects performed as Process Engineer give me a strong recommendation for a place in your project. I would be honored if you decide to accept my candidature to be current student of MSc at the Jacobs University 2017/2018.
Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Carlos Cabrera
