Scholarship / I plan how to lead my students through their educational way, to develop their critical thinking [3]

Hello,

I'm applying to chevening scholarship, I answered the networking and leadership questions but I need to revise my answers if they need modifications or anything to make them better.

Here are my answers

1. Leadership and influence question

As a teacher, I do not just plan how to fulfill the curriculum outcomes, I, more importantly, plan how to lead my students through their way to learn, to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

When I started my teaching career two years ago, I had no idea what am I ought to do while I'm face to face with a group of students each with his/her expectations, some of them were easy to handle, others were challenging. With no previous teaching experience and no pedagogical or educational background, I struggled at the beginning. I wanted so much to overcome this, I started asking my colleagues to make peer visits to my sessions; I was more interested in their criticism more than their praise. I made visits to their sessions too. We started to exchange our experiences and share our ideas about better ways of delivering certain information.

I ended my first year of teaching with a quite good impression as a hard-working teacher yet deep inside I believed that there should be more to give as a teacher. I started developing my professional skills as a teacher; I attended workshops and read about teaching and instructional strategies. I believed in the power of knowing my students well to teaching them efficiently, so I started building strong teacher-student relationships with them, listen to their ideas helping them creating new ideas and concepts using the knowledge provided in their curriculum.

Last summer, I started a professional educator diploma for early years, as I wanted to have a contribution in shaping the minds of these young learners so they can find their way to be self-learners. And here I'm applying for a master's degree in the UK so I can further develop my capabilities as a teacher and have a more effective contribution in developing science curricula in my country so we can provide next generations better learning opportunities than ours.

Throughout this journey I haven't only tried to guide and lead my students through their learning process, I also led myself to a path I believe that I can make a difference through it.
