Undergraduate / The hotter the battle, the sweeter the victory - surviving obstacles [2]
There is not but one positive thing which goes without opposition.And any random person would take obstacles as stumbling blocks which succumb to failure.But from every wound, there is a scar, and every scar tells a story, a story that says, "I survived". For after all," the hotter the battle, the sweeter the victory" .
earning a position in the maths olympiad team, making it into Zimbabwe's best schools rugby team and finally changing to my desired examination board was more than enough to make me ecstatic in my academic year.Little did I know that celebrating just as yet was like counting chickens which barely ever existed.
Everything was initiated with a life threatening collision which left me with a broken leg and head injuries two weeks into the rugby season.It was just then that both of my parents had left the country and I, being a boarder, had very little help to rely on.I was only left with four months before my final examinations, with lumsum amounts of schoolwork and responsibilities, and very limited mobility to cope up with.
all of a sudden, the short walk to lessons became a journey, my small backpack a boulder and every minor responsibility, a mammoth task.The awaited exam board change turned out to be the worst mistake.It would take only one decision to let go of everything I had worked for in 17 years just to let down the weight on my shoulders.
In such moments, instead of cutting the line, you discover that adverse events can be so powerful that they force us to come up with ideas we never would have thought of otherwise.It is then that the distant destination called success, with but one pathway leading to it(ambition), and only one available vehicle(persistence) can be reached.The hard work sacrificed for leisure and the perseverance and little tolerance on my in-capabilities led to a speedy recovery and better preparedness for my final examinations.
Any help will be very appreciated...
