Scholarship / I have achieved in a number of areas where the leadership skills have been displayed and developed [2]

Leadership and influence: Chevening is looking for individuals

Please do help me and correct any shortcomings in this my very first essay to Chevening:

Being a good and influencer leader may have self-confidence, commitment and a pro-active team player in a community. From my very early years of primary school to present day, I have achieved in a number of areas where these leadership skills have been displayed and developed, but apart from all, the story of my past leadership and influence in my community takes place exactly from the mission of education and then to social, cultural and finally I become a cultural advisor.

After successfully passing high school Exam, I passed to Kabul University in the Faculty of Languages and Literature. Since I had much experience in English teaching, simultaneously, I became an English teacher at a private Institute namely Ihsan Wardak English Language Institute based in Kabul.

In addition, I was appointed the President of the Kabul University students Association through a competitive election process among the students. Based on my leadership at University level, I was responsible to having meetings with government officials and communicating with other Universities' students in order to discuss several students issues and find solutions in facilitating a better atmosphere at the University campus. From the very first day at University, I had good relationships with all the students as well as with administration and government officials, it helped me to acquire a varieties of skills in develop of work ethics and led me taking of more responsibilities.

As the President of the students, I had some achievements, started a Communication Committee and led the committee myself during my tenure. I upheld communication with PRTs (Provincial Reconstruction Teams); since I also had much proficiency in English, I constantly had contacts with the Public and Civil Affairs officers in PRTs. Through our communication, we succeeded to draw a grant to build restrooms for girls at a provincial level. PRT also facilitated some literacy classes for Afghan Girls in the isolated areas.

In Afghanistan after graduating University studies, it is quite difficult to find a job, but hopefully, I became able to finding a job immediately after graduating from University and I appointed as a cultural advisor and linguist at the provincial Governor office of Paktia Province. I certainly would like to boost my responsibilities and I will walk forward to demonstrate myself as a potential future leader more professionally and more academically in the public or private sector in my country.

On the other hand, living away from family or studying overseas is not something new to me, because I have already been to Bangladesh for almost a year pursuing my first Master's degree in Good Governance and Development. Studying in Bangladesh more particularly the lectures of his Excellency S.R Osmani a visiting Professor at BRAC University in Bangladesh and Professor of Development Economics at Ulster University in the United Kingdom has leant my keenness towards getting a second Master degree in the United Kingdom and his excellency encouraged me to apply for this program.
