Scholarship / Being the eldest brother, I was a role model for my brothers and sister; Chevening application [3]
this's my essays for the Chevening scolarship, please help me with your guidance and advices
Leadership:
Being the eldest brother, I was a role model for my brothers and sister and that was the first seed of leadership in my life
Taking initiative:
-Participating in national and international events by publishing several articles about:
oCollecting data and Statistic studies on :
- Geriatric oncology in colorectal cancer. (JICC* - October 2014)
- Geriatric oncology in stomach cancer. (JICC* - October 2014)
- Geriatric oncology in pancreatic cancer. (JICC* - October 2014)
- Geriatric oncology in liver cancer (liver carcinoma). (JICC* - October 2014).
- Pancreatic cancer (world Gastro-Intestinal congress - Barcelone - July 2016).
Statistic study and a research to explain why my home town has a higher rate of men with breast cancer (3.5% and the international rate is 0.5 to 1%)
-in 2008, a flood hit our city, in that day i saw my leadership skills in action, where i was able to save my family, our precious holdings (stuff), and some of our neighbors, the flood was only for a day but it was a catastrophy
*la Journée internationale du Cancer - Constantine.
Influence:
-In my work I came in contact with cancer patients who refuse treatment, patients who lost hope in having a chance to be cured, so I tried to convince them in order not to give up and keep fighting, I succeededmost of times to start the treatment.
-We don't have a psychologist in cancer unit, so i was both the oncologist and the psychotherapist to improve my patients' mental health, i gave them hope and the will to fight this horrible disease, i even have patients with stage IV cancer who are alive since 2012, thanks to the psychological support.
-Volunteering to do many awareness days about breast cancer:
oAt the police department
oAt university
oOn the radio station (where I received a lot of calls and questions) and in open area
As a result of conducting those awareness days, we started to treat more of early cancer stages.
