Chevening Essay (Leadership and influence skills)

Is leadership a personal trait or it could be gained through experience and practice? I think that leadership could be gained through practice according to my personal experiences.

From early years, when I was twelve years old I had represented my primary school in an academic competition with my colleagues, although my school did not the first place in a winning prize I had developed an organizational and leadership skills.

In the university, I was a leader of a group of my colleagues ( eleven persons) in a survey camp out of capital city. This experience offered to me management skills, motivation, influencing and leadership skills to accomplish the work as planned.

From recent experiences, I was working as a construction manager (project manager) in a Real Estate company in a project consisted of ground plus nine floors. The project was far behind the timetable when I started the work and I was responsible for the success of the project. So, it was challenging to succeed the project toward the planned timetable. My role was influencing and motivating the teamwork to carry out the project as planned.

To sum up, I have developed leadership and influencing skills which I hope to use it in making a positive change in my home country.
