Essays / University of Michigan - Community essay - is this a good topic? [2]
Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage. Choose one of the communities to which you belong, and describe that community and your place within it. (Required for all applicants; 300 word limit)
So for this prompt, I want to write about my role in mayor's council.
I served in my city's mayor's council from 9th grade. Assisted in community events and now serving as president. Apart from the prescribed events, I did my own events and volunteering. Is this a good topic? My issue is it seems LITERALLY MY COMMUNITY IS MY COMMUNITY.... does this seem uninteresting? It's not like playing video games with a kid half way across the world or hacking away on a project with someone in a different state, etc. -- thoughts?
