Grammar, Usage / Tense to use when writing about mythology [4]

mythology and the past tense

Hi Everyone,
I need to write an essay about ancient mythology. I'm just confused about what tense I should use. I usually write in the present tense. But since this is about mythology. should I use the past tense?
