Scholarship / GKS U 2022, RUNN FOR A BETTER LIFE, MY BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION'S ESSAY [3]

I just need to run

Another day in school, another day of "what am I doing here." Yes, I was utterly hopeless since I could not attend university because of financial problems. I had no motivation to study and teachers hated my laziness. So, I joined some extracurricular activities to make myself passionate again, like MPK ('Majelis Perwakilan Kelas' or Class Representative Assembly) and 'PASKIBRA' ('Pasukan Pengibar Bendera' or Flag Hoisting Troop.) 'MPK' has an occupation to evaluate Student Council's performance, while 'PASKIBRA' has a main task for lowering and raising the duplicated national flag of Indonesia

I took these activities seriously as our troop were signed up in many flag raising competitions. Gratefully, our work hard paid off. We won more than 5 competitions in a year, and as the flag raiser I got to win 'The Best Flag Raiser' in almost every competition. Furthermore, I got many organizational experiences from both club. I knew how to write proposals, activity reports, and competition administrations. It felt so nice to have a target again, a finish line to run.

When I was in the 5th semester, I was planning to take a gap year and work to gather money for my college. Because I still wanted to attend university even if I must work harder than my peers. And gratefully, I found the Global Korea Scholarship that gave full tuition for the scholars. I knew my GPAs were low, so I propelled my CGPA in the 6th semester. Even though I only got 83 as my CGPA, I won't be hopeless again. I already had a finish line to run and I would run my life trough it.

After I finished my final exam, I started looking for job. Gratefully, I could work as a head store in a store named 'Dimsum Salmon'. It was mentally and physically exhausting because I must learn many things I had never experienced before; for instance, creating regular invetory reports, dim sum production procedures, and creating purchase plans in less than one week. My crew also kept underestimating me because I became a head store with no experience before. But I won't give up easily.

I initiated to make some adjustment that would help me, I added stock card so I didn't need to count everything in the storage one by one. I was also able to operate online cashier application and control dim sum production. Following my improvement, me and the crew started to excel as a team and we were trusted to train new employees. After few months, I decided to resign and used the money I'd saved to take TOEIC test and focus on the GKS's application.

Even those days were hard and exhausting, it unintentionally had helped me to find my interest, which is Business Administration. So, I was bound and determined to continue my study to a country that grows with its business at warp speed, South Korea. A country that is able to climb from #23 in Ease of Doing Business Rankings by World Bank in 2009 to #5 in 2020. It will be a big honor to learn from South Korea with its excellent improvement trough years.

At the end of the day, I've learned many things. But one thing that is really important for my life is I don't need a finish line to run anymore. This life has unlimited amount of lane, so I just need to run. Maybe I will get lost. But who knows where will it lead me? That is the most exciting part of getting lost.
