The table given provide the comparison of national consumer spending of Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in 2002.
As can be seen from the data, people of those countries spent more on food and tobaccos than they did for dresses, education and entertainment. The percentage of food and tobaccos that Turkish people spent on reach 32,14% about two times as much as that of Swedish is 15,77%. Irish people spent more than 28% on this category while people of Italy, Spain and Sweden spent just nearly a fifth for food and tobaccos. For clothing items, people of Italy stood at the 1st place for expenditure while other countries spent less than 7%
Similarly, the expenditure in leisure activities and education was much less than the amount spent on food, tobaccos and dresses. The highest amount spent on this category more than 4% was done by Turkish people is about two times higher than the lowest amount spent by people of Spain.
