Writing Feedback / A broad essay assignment called "Who Are We?" (antidepressant medication, depression) [3]

I have a paper to write and I have a topic in mind but I'm lost as to where to go with this topic since the assignment words it in a very vague way. Here it is...

Social science is the study of human society and individual relationships in and to society. In other words, who are we and how do we interact wiht one another, either alone or in groups... families, peer groups, countries, etc.

For this assignment, create an essay that explores that question - Who Are We? - and makes an argument supporting a position. This is not a reflective essay, despite the question - this is meant to explore the question in a larger context.

Then it goes on to say that there are a number of fields (political science, economics, sociology, psychology) that this question could apply to.

The example for psychology is "Who are we, as patients or participants in our medical communities? Perhaps you believe that the rates of autism are inflated due to the expansion of the autism spectrum. You might examine the role of the medical industry in the expansion of those measuring tools."

My topic is antidepressant medication, depression, and the pharmaceutical industry. Maybe something along the lines of how far the industry is going to push their product and if its ethical or not. Or maybe how the depression spectrum is being increased so that more people are diagnosed with depression? I don't know what argument to make or how this applies to "who are we?" I need some help.
