Educational Goals essay for VCU

I am supposed to write about my educational goals and why I want to study journalism. Please critique where you see fit. Also, is there anything else I should add to it or is it fine?

My dream is to become a successful journalist. God gave me the gift of being able to communicate effectively and I plan to use it to my advantage in the future. After I graduate from high school, I plan on majoring in Journalism at Virginia Commonwealth University in order to make this dream a reality.

I hope to see significant growth in my writing skills while studying journalism at VCU. I think I am an excellent writer, but I wish to become even better. This is why I would like to enter the School of Mass Communications and earn my Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications with a specialization in journalism. After I complete my education, I want to have the ability to write about any and everything.

I am inspired by everything and everyone I encounter. For me, writing is an excellent way for me to document everything so that I will never forget it. I want to major in Journalism more than anything because writing is my passion and I do not want to spend my life doing anything else. I have so many thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and when I write, it gives me a chance to let it all out for everyone to see. Above all, I want to share my opinions, research new discoveries, and investigate events, and I want the whole world to read what I have to say.

Overall, I think this is really good. There's just a few things I want to point out:

- The second paragraph seems a little irrelevant. The paper should be mostly about the man, not what you had to do as an intern.
- I think you should talk more about the man. You gave some great visual descriptions of him, but didn't actually explain why you called him your hero. It's not uncommon to find someone, especially a nurse, who cares about the well being of others. Make this man seem different from everyone else. I'm not saying lie, but maybe he did something tremendous that just made you go "WOW"
