In 500 words, tells us about what makes you, you. What are your strengths, weaknesses, and your motivation? What separates you from any other applicant? How do you think Howard University will increase your strengths and diminish your weaknesses?ANSWER> I am a pleasant, well mannered girl, who has an excellent attitude towards her education. I am always focused when it comes to learning, very enthusiastic in learning and also I commit to work with great energy and determination. I consider my self to be a very strong person, both physically and mentally. I am trustworthy, flexible, honest and adaptable. I am a very quick learner, who loves to learn new skills and also I enjoy managing time effectively. I get a bad attitude when my friends do not do their best academically, or when they do not care about improving their grades by studying effectively because it always has done like that. I am also too patient. May at the first glance it seems strange but not about me I usually try to be patient about bad behaviors or mistakes of others instead of talking about it and finally I get angry and reflect in a bad way. Sometimes since I think I am the only one who can do things right, I can't trust others to delegate my authorities and responsibilities. Like any normal person, I have far and wide weaknesses but the point is that I try to use my strength to overcome my weaknesses.
My greatest motivation is the fear of failure and disappointment. As each day goes by, am always afraid of the tendency of becoming a failure which motives me to be alert academically and also to be careful of choices that I make which could affect my future. My family has always been my greatest inspiration. They have helped me with many achievements and always motivate me to educate myself.
I choose Howard University because of its cultural diversity and its reputation for high quality education in a stimulating environment. Howard also really appealed to me because of its commitment to serve society through its teaching and research. I like Howard because it has a reputation for having good facilities and teaching from expert in their fields which will help me increase my strength. The college atmosphere will also diminish my weaknesses because I will be in a mature environment working independently unlike high school were I am guided by my teachers. Also Howard will shape my perspective of the way I see things and how I interact with people.
Describe the reasons you have chosen to enter the major that you selected previously in this application.ANSWER>The reason I choose Medicine as my career choice is due to an experience I had when I was 9years of age. I was walking through a lonely street when suddenly I saw two motor bike both emerging from different direction both on full speed, within a tinkle of an eye they had been an head-on collusion between the two bike riders. One of the bike riders died instantly on the spot while the other one was still breathing but was unconscious. I was the only one on the street, so I ran to him and tried to revive him but I couldn't do anything because I lack the experience to help him survive. Eventually people started coming to help but none was capable or had the experience to help the man. The man struggling for survive was short because he eventual kicked the bucket, I was so devastated and sadden because I know that if I had the insight and knowledge of a doctor, I could have help him, prevented his death and also saved a life. From that day I vow to go to a medical school and gain the insight and knowledge to become a successful doctor and also help save life of people with the skill acquired. Because to me saving a life can make a big different in the world, it not until when we do something big that we make a different in the world but changes start from small things such has helping people to get better health wise and also saving a life. Biological science provides an idea foundation for medicine which I wish to pursue as a career.
