Undergraduate / "pleasant, well mannered girl" (about me) + Medicine (reasons of the major) [3]

In 500 words, tells us about what makes you, you. What are your strengths, weaknesses, and your motivation? What separates you from any other applicant? How do you think Howard University will increase your strengths and diminish your weaknesses?

ANSWER> I am a pleasant, well mannered girl, who has an excellent attitude towards her education. I am always focused when it comes to learning, very enthusiastic in learning and also I commit to work with great energy and determination. I consider my self to be a very strong person, both physically and mentally. I am trustworthy, flexible, honest and adaptable. I am a very quick learner, who loves to learn new skills and also I enjoy managing time effectively. I get a bad attitude when my friends do not do their best academically, or when they do not care about improving their grades by studying effectively because it always has done like that. I am also too patient. May at the first glance it seems strange but not about me I usually try to be patient about bad behaviors or mistakes of others instead of talking about it and finally I get angry and reflect in a bad way. Sometimes since I think I am the only one who can do things right, I can't trust others to delegate my authorities and responsibilities. Like any normal person, I have far and wide weaknesses but the point is that I try to use my strength to overcome my weaknesses.

My greatest motivation is the fear of failure and disappointment. As each day goes by, am always afraid of the tendency of becoming a failure which motives me to be alert academically and also to be careful of choices that I make which could affect my future. My family has always been my greatest inspiration. They have helped me with many achievements and always motivate me to educate myself.

I choose Howard University because of its cultural diversity and its reputation for high quality education in a stimulating environment. Howard also really appealed to me because of its commitment to serve society through its teaching and research. I like Howard because it has a reputation for having good facilities and teaching from expert in their fields which will help me increase my strength. The college atmosphere will also diminish my weaknesses because I will be in a mature environment working independently unlike high school were I am guided by my teachers. Also Howard will shape my perspective of the way I see things and how I interact with people.

Describe the reasons you have chosen to enter the major that you selected previously in this application.

ANSWER>The reason I choose Medicine as my career choice is due to an experience I had when I was 9years of age. I was walking through a lonely street when suddenly I saw two motor bike both emerging from different direction both on full speed, within a tinkle of an eye they had been an head-on collusion between the two bike riders. One of the bike riders died instantly on the spot while the other one was still breathing but was unconscious. I was the only one on the street, so I ran to him and tried to revive him but I couldn't do anything because I lack the experience to help him survive. Eventually people started coming to help but none was capable or had the experience to help the man. The man struggling for survive was short because he eventual kicked the bucket, I was so devastated and sadden because I know that if I had the insight and knowledge of a doctor, I could have help him, prevented his death and also saved a life. From that day I vow to go to a medical school and gain the insight and knowledge to become a successful doctor and also help save life of people with the skill acquired. Because to me saving a life can make a big different in the world, it not until when we do something big that we make a different in the world but changes start from small things such has helping people to get better health wise and also saving a life. Biological science provides an idea foundation for medicine which I wish to pursue as a career.

PLS ANY COMMENT IS WELCOME

Undergraduate / "The first to study in the United States" + "studying in Hong-Kong" - 2 UCs [5]

Am having a lilttle problem with your 1st paragraph because it didnt really answer the question been asked. The second paragragh is ok because it has some vital ponit. there are some grammatical error with need looking at

Being the first to study in the United States, I know I will have a different life than other family(whiwhich family member and how is it related to the question)

members. In my family, I have lots of relatives and some of my cousins are studying in Canada. Although I am not the first family member to go to another country to study, all my relatives are expecting me to have a successful life i think you dont really need these. The reason they expect more from me because i am the first to travel to AMERICA TO STUDY AND ALSO BECAUSE MOST children OF NOWADAY NO LONGER VALUE EDUCATION AND NO LONGER WANT STUDY. For instance, one of my cousins, Chi Wei,WHO went to Canada three years ago TO STUDY.WHEN HE WAS GOING EveryBODY was proud of him because he into a good university THROUGH his hard work. ALTHOUGHT HE worked very hard TO ATTAIN HIS ADMISSION, HE CHOOSE a major CAREER PART which WAS easy for him.WHEN HE FINISHED HIS STUDIES he came back to Hong Kong to get a job, he noticed that it was very hard to get a nice salary with his QULIFICATIONS. So, he DECIDED TO ask my father FOR a job PLACEMENT IN HIS COMPANY WHICH MY COUSIN HAD NO EXPRIENCE OR QULIFICATION . This decision shaped my dream and aspiration BECAUSE IT I LEARNT THAT ONE SHOULD NOT ALWAYS CHOOSE A CAREER PATH THAT IS EASY INSTEAD ONE SHOULD ALWAYS CHOOSE A CAREER THAT HARD WORK BECAUSE AT THE END ONE WOULD BENEFIT FROM IT

Last summer, I workED in my father's office INORDER TO GAIN SOME work experience. ON A PARTICULAR DAY WHEN I followED my father TO A construction SITE, I saw Chi We,HE was working so EVER SO hard. I wonderED TO MYSELF why a student, who graduated from a good university and got the second honors, could end up with a poor salary and IN A poor working place. He just made one wrong decision and this changed his whole life. At this POINT, I understood that if I choose a college major that I do not like or because this major is easy to do, I will be just like Chi Wei. I must study a major that I like and can help me to be a successful person which will make my family proud of me.it will be arduous for me BECAUSE WHEN I graduate, I can get a nice salary and can work in a famous company. I cannot give up NOW because my familIES are expecting me to become successful. Chi Wei's decision changed my view of college and my life BECAUSE if pERSON make a wrong choice OR DECISION, it WILL affect their whole liFE.

Undergraduate / "leadership is NOT simply being the first, biggest or most powerful" - North Carolina [5]

i dont know how to phrase my example.
The youth in my commuinty decide to organised a christmas carnival during the christmas period but they dont know how to go about it. this is due to lack of funds and materials, i decided to take charge of the committe by organising fundsrasing activities such as football tornament, basketball tornament, music competiton and also getting the youth to do odd jobs like cleaning the community which we got paid for.All these activities generated the money we need to organised the carnival party. i tried as much as possible to get everyone(youth) involved in the activites that i assigned different jobs to each of the youth such as Decoration, Music, refreshment, Flyer.... Everything got sorted and the carnival was a success. In my poinion the Carinval wasnt a success becaus i was the biggest or most powerful but i a vision and without a vision a leader cannot drive others in the direction of achieving desired goals
