Undergraduate / "a poor Caucasian male" - Culture question for University of Washington admission [2]
Prompt:The University of Washington seeks to create a community of students richly diverse in cultural backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints. How would you contribute to this community?
I am a poor Caucasian male. What a great and wonderful world immensely diverse in culture right? Well, don't judge me too soon because I do believe I bring my own unique bit of culture to the table. As a person culturally I find myself hard to describe. I love art and Will Ferrell movies. I love both football and fútbol. I am fascinated with technology and I love improve theatre. My music ranges from Bullet for My Valentine's "My Tears Don't Fall" to Taylor Swift's "Teardrops on My Guitar." I crave intellect and t-shirts of a heavily mustachioed Darth Vader. Unfortunately after many "O's" into my Google searches, I still can't put a word to my culture so I'm left with saying that I am uniquely me. I am also fascinated with other cultures and try to absorb as much as I can, which is one of the reasons I plan on going to college in Seattle, which, in my mind, is indisputably the cultural center of the Northwest. To be surrounded by all the different cultures of the campus is to me not only an ideal place to learn but also to live. I feel that not only would UW contribute to my cultural diversity, but that I will also help contribute to UW cultural diversity by being my oddly unique self.
