Undergraduate / Best piece of advice essay- 'hay' belongs to the horses- for Brown University [5]

Hi,

loll, I was about to type "Hey" and suddenly stopped myself. :P

Anyway, I think your essay was wonderful. It delivers an excelent message and is comedic at the same time. I found a few minor errors I pointed out below, I hope it helped.

Though it may not seem on the surface to be significant or life changing advice, it taught me a lot.
- Though, on the surface, it may not seem to be significant or life changing advice, it taught me a lot.

My mom realized this and, perhaps unknowingly, passed this message on to me through her advice.
- Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand how your mom could realize this and unknowingly pass it onto you?

Towards the end of eighth grade
- the eighth grade

Matt and I went after school everyday afterschool to practice our speeches
- Everyday afterschool, Matt and I went to practice - I think it flows better like this

convinced me my speech had been successful.
- convinced me that my speech had been successful.

So I won't insist the advice I has been given left me a perfectly prepared and well-adjusted individual.
- So, I won't insist that the advice I had been given

Please take a look at my essay?

Undergraduate / Understanding, appreciation, and variety of subject areas - Why Columbia [4]

Hey, I despriately need any advice/editing you may have to offer. Please help!

Please tell us what you find most appealing about Columbia and why:

Albert Einstein one said that the most important part of "education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school." While all the knowledge that one gains may be important, I believe Einstein's definition of education to be more valuable.

It is my firm belief that Columbia University, in more ways than one, will be a perfect fit for me. Columbia's core curriculum requires its students to take a variety of courses, and in doing so, stimulates their education. The core allows and encourages the student to experience a variety of disciplines while maintaining the required focus on his or her respective major. This truly broadens the student's mental horizon and allows him or her to approach subjects with various perspectives, thus instilling the 'One World' concept and the understanding of the universality and multilateral application of knowledge from any one particular subject. Furthermore, I feel it allows the student to embrace and appreciate the idea that literally everything is interconnected and interdependent, and so naturally encourages the student to look for an analyze connections, building his or her inquiry skills.

I believe the understanding, appreciation, and subtle exposure to a variety of subject areas allows the metamorphosis of a complete, holistic student, seemingly ideal for any graduate or job position.
