"working as an actuarial analyst" - career aspirations [2]
Hello everyone, could you please give any advice on my statement regarding why I choose master of Finance, how it matches with my career aspirations and what to expect through the course (300 words or less) :
I have been working as an actuarial analyst at XXX for more than one year. Before that I was an accounting assistant in an insurance company for 1 year after my university graduation. During both periods, I found my strong interest in Finance through my daily work. It's so interesting for me to see how companies write their business in order to earn profits, how they invest their incomes on capital markets, and how big corporations acquire the small ones - acquisitions and merges.
However, the courses I took in my university only provided me with a fundamental view of finance. As I am moving towards my career aspirations, I wish to acquire more comprehensive knowledge for my future career development. The finance program in City University of HK could allow me to obtain enough insight and professional competence, because the core courses it offers just match what I need the most, especially the Corporate Finance and Investments. In addition, both the Accounting and Quantitative Analysis & Actuarial Science from electives suit my interests and needs exactly.
Since I'm getting close to my fellowship of society of actuaries (SOA), I am fully confident that I've already had a strong background for studying this program. My long term goal is to become an actuary with specialist in corporate finance and have the ability to help companies make decisions in order to maximize corporate value while managing the firm's financial risks. I hope that through this program I would gain extensive understanding in finance, and enhance my skills in financial analysis, communication and leadership which are particularly essential for my professionalism improvement.
