Writing Feedback / TOEFL-Internet, good or bad? Each coin has both sides [2]

Any suggestions and recommendations are welcomed! Thanks a lot! :)
Some people say that the Internet provides people with a lot of valuable information. Others think access to so much information creates problems. Which view do you agree with?

With the rapid development of science and technologies, the Internet becomes much more widely used than before. Some people hold the opinion that much valuable information has been brought by the Internet, while others argue that the information provided by the Internet also have bad consequences. From my perspective, the use of the Internet results in both good and bad impacts.

Admittedly, people are exposed to such a huge amount of valuable information through the use of the Internet. Only by clicking the mouse, people can readily find what they want at the computer, such as buying a new T-shirt, booking airline tickets, or even searching optimal routes. For example, I want to know the best route from my home to the city library. Only by typing in a few words in the google website, there will be several options popping out for me to choose. The options fall into a couple of categories by the types of transportation such as driving, bus or metro, ranging from the most time saving way to the shortest distance way. These routes information is very valuable to me when I make a decision on how to go the city library from my home.

However, not all of the information provided by the Internet is healthy and valuable to the users, some of it may cause serious results. The malicious software is a good example. Once the computers are infected with viruses, they cannot work normally anymore. Even more terrible consequence is that your files stored in your computer may be lost or your confidential information may be divulged.

Each coin has both sides. This saying is true when we regard the use of the Internet. The most crucial thing is not to judge whether the advantage of the Internet outweighs the disadvantage or vice versa but to figure out solutions to the problems raised by the Internet or prevent the potential danger caused by the harmful information on the Internet.

Writing Feedback / equal importance; Better to have broad knowledge or specialize in one subject? [2]

Hi, i am new here. Please help me edit my essay. Thanks a lot.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is better to have broad knowledge of many academic subjects than to specialize in one specific subject.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your essay.

There are a lot of different ways for people to learn knowledge. People can learn by having broad knowledge covering many academic subjects, or they can learn by focusing on one specific subject. Which is better? From my perspective, I think both the general knowledge of subjects and the specific techniques in one subject hold equal importance to the development of individuals and the society as a whole.

First of all, general knowledge over many subjects gives a person an all-round understanding of this world, which makes him or her think thoughtfully and critically. When encountering some problems, he or she could consider them from variable angles, trying to figure out solutions from different aspects. Through establishing connections with many disciplines or fields, people may reach more convenient and effective approaches to the problems. Therefore, broad knowledge of many subjects contributes to broaden a person's horizon of evaluating problems, and improve his or her problem-solving abilities.

However, specialized knowledge in one subject is also indispensable for a person because this world is fast developing into a world in a great demand of specialized talents. We need specialized technicians in all walks of life, from manufactory industry to finance industry, and even in some newly development fields. Take me as an example, my major is turfgrass management, which aims at cultivating talents for the golf course industry. We learn how to exploit cultural practices to make the grass grow better and healthier for the golfers to play on, such as irrigation, fertilization, pest management, weed control and so forth. This job was regarded as a narrow category of landscape maintenance or horticulture years ago, but now it is of great importance to the golf turfgrass industry. Thus, from the example discussed above, we could conclude that specialized skills in one subject take advantage as well.

To sum up, it is very hard to say whether having a wide range of knowledge outweighs specializing in a specific subject or not. Both of these abilities are essential for a person, and the future development of society.
