Undergraduate / "the sport of field hockey" - Personal Statement - is the topic too typical? [2]

Throughout my life I have devoted much of my time to the sport of field hockey. I have been a member of Northwestern Lehigh's team for six years and a member of a club team for four. These experience have been very valuable in shaping who I am as a person today. Being a member of my high school team has taught me important teamwork and leadership skills. It has also helped me become a more patient and helpful person when assisting the more inexperienced players. While playing on a club team, I've learned to overcome the challenges of working with new people and building friendships. Besides from my playing, I have been a volunteer youth field hockey coach for the past several years. This experience is by far the most rewarding. It has taught me the aspects of teaching others while participating in an activity I enjoy so much. I found that volunteering my time to give back to the community while teaching others about something I particurally love was extremely satisfying. All in all, the sport of field hockey has molded me into a versatile, well-balanced and productive member of society.
