Undergraduate / Life is short. Why spend seven years at a university? -Howard University Admission [3]

Life is short. More so, we are living in a day where tomorrow, at any age, is not promised. So, why have I at seventeen years of age decided to spend at least seven years at a university. I have always been one to say "life is only what you make of it". The time I expect to have on earth I want to experience, make something of myself, and always keep a goal.

Certainly, experience is one of the best ways to learn. Experience may lead to a mistake, but either way we learn from it. Some of my clearest realizations in life have came from a mistake I made. In all experiences I take full responsibility for my actions. I am very open minded, and my time on Earth should be spent learning about life itself along with the people in it. I like to consider peoples' life growing up as a viewpoint from their opinion on something. Experiencing in different regions and aspects of the world is the best way I have found to conquer that goal.

Of course, I want to make something of myself. I don't want to be a bum and live in today with no hope of tomorrow. I plan for a successful future to avoid all cause of the bum predicament happening. Even though we are basically living to die, our time here should be spent doing something productive, instead of complaining. I strongly dislike people who complain a lot. Those type of people usually don't take the initiative to change the issue, or either put themselves into the situation that they are complaining about. My success is based upon me and only me. Yes, other people play weighted factors in my success. But, I personally know you have to start at the bottom to work your way to the top. By making something of myself and not falling under any statistic I will have succeeded on spending my time on Earth very wisely.

Clearly then, you should always have a goal. Your goals should not always focus around making money, that is a sign of greed. I keep a goal along with a back up plan. Having something to work for in life never leaves the mind idle. My goals value around making myself a respectful successful woman with standards. Along with that, of course, I want promotions and money. Yet, I know there are more important things in life. No one is perfect at anything and never will be. Knowing this, we can only do as much as strive for perfection with a realistic goal.

In final consideration, spending my time on Earth doing what I have to do in life, such as experiencing, succeeding, and aspiring a goal, I will be one more person who has at least tried. Things hardly ever go as planned but as long as you know what you are working towards, and don't lose focus, nothing can stop you from striving. I, Redeidre Edwards, vow to be the best I can knowing my past, present, and planned future.
