Scholarship / "Why do you choose that major?" (In the field of Culture, Society and Media) [3]

Hi you guys,
I am trying my best to write all the required essays to get a scholarship. However, this is the first time I have written scholarship essays, which are not like any assignments my teachers often give me. To tell the truth, I am totally stuck :(. Even though I have done whatever I could, my essays seem to repeat the same idea and structures. Compared to other essays, mine do sound boring :(. Can anyone help me, as I really need to make it more appealing to the judges? :(

Here is mine about the decision of choosing my college (my university has two colleges, each of which contains four minor majors)

Ever since junior high school, I have been interested in social science subjects and other things that deals with arts. Besides, I strongly believe that different classic works of art reflect their origin 's merits and traditions, differ from society to society. Some classic novels I have read like Jane Eyre, The Thorn Birds, A tale of two cities,... represent people's ideas, belief and etiquettes of their time - for instance, The Hunchback of Notre Dame portrays the Gothic architecture, one of which the Notre Dame as the main theme. Moreover, those masterpieces do not only show their era's culture, but also reflect the authors' feelings and thoughts, which beautifully convey humanitarian values - like The Thorn Birds portrays the passion and bravery of a rebellious young woman who dares to fight against public opinion and old-fashioned morals for her love. Reading those kinds of novel makes me relaxed, hence if I find one suiting my taste, I often fill my spare time with it. Besides, if possible, I want to enrich my knowledge in the field of culture and languages, to know more how they contribute to the society.

With the development of Information Technology and modern techniques, our society is being altered in some ways. I am interested to know how the Media represents its culture and society, plus what its role is in a modern world like us nowadays. By taking the Culture, Society & Media major APS provides, I believe I will have the answer to that question, plus the opportunity to enrich my knowledge about Art, Languages and Culture - how they develop and how they contribute to create what is called "Society", or why there is a diversity of regional's traditions.

I have determined to specialize in the Media field, so why exactly do I need to study Culture Anthropology or Sociology as well? It may be a matter of taste, but I am convinced that these three areas are connected in some ways. I have read that the Media studies may drawn from traditions from both the social science and the humanities, but mostly its core is based on communication studies. Moreover, by taking this major of APS, I might acquire detailed knowledge and understanding of the Media's role in different societies, along with highly-developed written skills and critical analysis, which can provide job opportunities in the creative industries or other sectors such as marketing, advertising, etc.
