Undergraduate / '70% of my life has been devoted to swimming' Extra Curricular [2]

Twelve out of seventeen is seventy percent; therefore, as of today, seventy percent of my life has been devoted to swimming. The main reason I continue swimming year after year is not because of the competition or even the friendships; it is because of the simplicity of swimming. Whenever I swim, I forget all of my troubles; all I feel is bliss and inner-peace. I am only aware of the silky rush of water between my fingertips with every stroke, the water that splashes every time I kick, and the bubbles that tickle my face every time I exhale and take a breath. As I dive into the water, I feel the wind hit my face and the dark water seems like a different dimension I am about to enter. Suddenly, my troubles are gone and my head is cleared from any stress. When I enter the water, the only thing in the world is the chlorine-filled water and me. The simple pleasure I find in swimming makes me realize that I will swim the rest of my life.
