Writing Feedback / (the short jawbones and overcrowded teeth) my article summary [2]
There is a variety of detailed measurements on the skull and jawbone. These measurements are on 11 different cultures from people in the past 2000 years.
Anthropologist Carmon-Taubadel concluded that lifestyle contributes significantly on the structure of human jawbones.
For instance, people who live in civilized countries used to eat soft foods as an agricultural diet. They tend to have smaller jawbones and suffer from overcrowded teeth.
However, people that lived on primitive agriculture had a hunter-gather-type diet and have larger jaws.
Additionally, Carmon-Taubadel tried to find a correlation between jawbones shape with some factors such as climate, geography, genetics and lifestyle.
She found that there are no genetic reasons but bio-mechanical.
Despite her research, there is evidence that the jawbone may change with a certain diet.
Researchers at Adelaide University did studies on the Warlpiri Aboriginals people in the 1950s.
Warlpiri Aborignals were famous for their large teeth, large chewing muscles and projecting faces.
Currently, their jaw bones have grown to be smaller with overcrowded teeth.
