Essays / "Our desire to conform is greater than our respect for objective facts." - AP exam [5]

I have to defend, challenge, or qualify Margaret Drabbles quote, "Our desire to conform is greater than our respect for objective facts."

"One thing most people, especially teenagers, despise is being called weird or different. So, in order to avoid that, many people comply to society's idea of "normal." This could include the clothes we wear, the music we listen to, or even the things we eat and drink.

For some reason, being original has become taboo. If wearing parachute pants is "in," then anyone who doesn't own parachute pants is going to be picked out of the crowd and made fun of. Of course, not everyone conforms to these norms. ..."

Like I said, it's just a start. I'm wondering of I'm heading in the right direction with this. :)
