Writing Feedback / Introductory PARAGRAPH FOR ESSAY, WHY THE 1980S WAS DIFFICULT FOR CANADA. [2]

As Canadians drew close to the 1980s, their national pride changed to high concerns for their communities and the country itself. It was a well known fact that social and economic changes were occurring more rapidly and significantly. Canadian government created "The Meech Lake Accord" to bring Quebec into constitution. However, Canada's attempt to amend the constitution was a failure. Many citizens felt that population growth was an important aspect among regions in Canada. An agreement between the United States and Canada was made to lower tariffs on products. In result, the treaty did not end up as an advantage for Canada in population growth and other significant aspects. Canada experienced one of the worst recession ever during these times. The 1980s was a difficult decade for Canadians for the following reasons: the disagreements on the Meech Lake Accord, the debates on the Canada-United States Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the economic downturn.
