FSU Essay - Did I include all and/or the right components correctly? [4]
~For almost one hundred years, the Latin words, "Vires, Artes, Mores" have been the guiding philosophy behind Florida State University. Vires signifies strength of all kinds - moral, physical, and intellectual; Artes alludes to the beauty of intellectual pursuits as exemplified in skill, craft, or art; and Mores refers to character, custom, or tradition. Describe how one or more of the values embodied in these concepts are reflected in your life.~

Certain values and traits are embodied in every human being. These values may include the same meanings that Florida State has been guided behind for years. Vires: strength of all kinds, Arte: a skill or craft, Mores: referring to one's self character. Whether one is kind or wicked, helpful or useless, intelligent or dull-minded, it is merely their character and who they are as a person. As a senior in high school, I am always trying to portray a well-balanced character and personality to peers.
Looking at life experiences and myself as a whole, the value of Vires has flourished in many ways. With the peer pressure of skipping class and other social life decisions around kids everyday, I always thought ahead, and thought about the future of my reactions, rather than the present. I could say no! And that intellectual thought process has led me to the life and future ahead of me. Individually, this was a way to overcome all and prepare for. Balancing three Varsity sports and committing to strenuous school clubs, showed my peers my eagerness to prevail. This eagerness I deem, spreads to others. Physical strength has also been a feature I've endured. Gaining physical strength was yet another way I saw to be able to push myself, past the average and conquer more.
One value I thought to have lacked is Arte. Though these skills are exposed in many ways, I found my calling in architecture. While most modern Americans dream to own a home of their own, I wanted to go beyond that. To design such a massive piece of work from scratch would be comparable to a painter with an enormous canvas. Such a value depends heavily on ones views of beauty and passion. Many around the world find propelling a soccer ball with one thrust to be an art. Where as I find floor plans of a future residence riveting.
The value of Mores, and what it represents, is by far one that I am most conscientious of. This trait has prevailed in my passion for helping others. I was always the one to be in the drama, rarely my own. People see my capability to listen and take note of my advice. Of course keeping up with it has led to the ever so modest "class gossiper" as a senior class superlative. Though first insulted by such an accusation, it is relevant to show my passion for always being a part of my surrounding and never falling back into the crowd.
Personal values are truly brought out through time and experience. Every decision we make reflects upon how these qualities represent us. This essay alone, to look at myself, as a whole and my personal traits has been an experience. I feel my personality and character it self is one Florida State University will recognize and feel confident about having on campus and in their classrooms. For I too have guided by such qualities.
