Undergraduate / why do you want to attend pratt? 'my interest in architecture' [3]
Over the past year, my interest in architecture has steadily increased. I was a little skeptical at first because of the artistic aspect of architecture. I had never seen myself as being artistic; I saw myself being more mathematical. I began to take an art class over the summer to see if it was really for me, and that is when I fell in love with art. I always thought that you were either good at art, or you were not; however, my artistic abilities have grown and I have become very interested in art and architecture. I furthered my interest by taking an art class in school. I have now decided that I would like to pursue my education in the more artistic side of architecture, rather than the engineering and scientific side. I am not the strongest artist, but I have the passion and the motivation to learn more and further my interest.
While searching for colleges to apply to, I found Pratt Institute. The more I have read about Pratt, the more I would like to further my education there. It caught my attention at first because it is one of the leading schools of art, design, and architecture. It is because of the very strong architecture program that I decided to learn more about Pratt. I like everything about Pratt, in particular, the location. When looking for colleges, I have made sure that they are located somewhere overflowing with culture. With its Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses, Pratt is the perfect fit. The historic Brooklyn campus is an excellent setting to study architecture, especially with Victorian mansions lining the streets. I have also made sure that I go to college somewhere that will excite me. I am pretty sure that there will be no chance of getting bored in New York City. The activities and study abroad programs have heightened my interests as well, in particular, the architecture programs offered in Rome and Copenhagen. All of these reasons have factored into my decision to apply to Pratt Institute. I feel like I will fit in perfectly at Pratt. It has the ideal atmosphere for me to pursue my education in architecture.
I am very ambitious when thinking about my education and what I wish to accomplish with it. After receiving a bachelor degree in architecture, I plan to continue in a graduate program. I hope to further my experiences by traveling more and seeing the world's most amazing architectural structures. I wish to some day be a professional architect and own my own architectural firm. I understand that this will require hard work, but I am up for the challenge because I know it will pay off in the end. I strive to do my best at everything I do and I really enjoy challenging myself. I will work my hardest at achieving my dream of becoming a professional architect. I firmly believe that Pratt Institute is the perfect place for me to begin this dream.
let me know what you think!
