Undergraduate / 'Fantastic education and new stunning element' - UCF APPLICATION [2]
TOPIC: Why did you choose to apply to UCF?
The first time that I heard of the University of Central Florida was in the fall of 2006 at a UCF-UF football game. To this day I can still clearly remember seeing Knightro and thinking what a complex fight song you had. Honestly, at that point, I had never even thought that I would someday aspire to be a Knight myself.
Fast-forward five years, and I found myself at the time having high hopes for securing a profession in hospitality. It was soon after that realization that I went to a UCF college visit at my school and was informed that Rosen College is one of the very best places that I could get that major. While I have changed my interests and preferred major, UCF stayed my top choice. If I had to guess, I'd say that it was that information session that really sparked my love for your university and started my fantasies of bleeding black and gold.
It was one thing to see how breathtaking and modern the campus is in pictures. However, when I made the three hour drive up to visit this summer for a campus tour, it was a completely new, stunning element. As clichĂŠ as this will undoubtedly sound, I love the entire campus as well as the surrounding area. What really drew me in though, was the huge Recreation and Wellness Center. Between the indoor track (perfect for training for my 5K runs), lap pool (it's no secret that I'm a competitive swimmer), and all the cardio machines (that pesky Freshman 15 won't stand a chance!), I was just in eternal bliss.
Another important factor when I was searching for my dream school was diversity. This is something that I have been exposed to my entire life and vied to keep around. When I found out about the diverse- and huge -student body, I was ecstatic. Anyway, as I continued my tour, I stumbled upon Greek Row. It is here that I hope to someday rush Kappa Delta, because I have always wanted to be a member of the Greek system like my father, and I love that one of their philanthropies is Prevent Child Abuse America. I will only rush, however, after I take a year to enjoy dorm life and focus on having the most outstanding academic freshman year that I possibly can at UCF.
In short, I chose to apply to UCF because it offers everything that I want in my perfect school: an amazing campus, proximity to my hometown, I would surely get a fantastic education, located in a large city that I already know my way around, a diverse student body, perfect sorority, and a sense of pride and school spirit that is unparalleled compared to any other school that I have seen thus far.
