My interest in design and the Japanese culture influence me to pursue Communication Design as my major and Japanese Studies as a minor. I anticipate creating works that illustrate my ideas, stories, and feelings. As I searched for an institute that cold prepare and enrich me for my goal, I discovered Carnegie Mellon and its distinguishable programs and faculty. After I attended an informational session at Irvine, California, I am sure that Carnegie Mellon is the right place to go. Carnegie Mellon offers the unlimited opportunities, creative atmosphere, and lively college life that I desire.

I developed my interest in art and design when I just started to sit straight. As my mom placed a magnetic drawing board in my little hands, I began exploring my artistic expressions that day. This incident served as an important stepping stone for me to become a passionate artist. My passion in design influences me to pursue graphic design as my major at the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University.

I am drawn to the infinite electives Carnegie Mellon offers. I desire the freedom to choose form a variety of classes that can enhance my artistic skills as well as expand my artistic awareness. Carnegie Mellon offers a variety of useful classes that fulfill my interests in various fields, such as architecture, glass, calligraphy, photography, and packaging. In addition, I love Carnegie Mellon's emphasis on interdisciplinary studies, such as in art and technology. In this case, Carnegie Mellon fully prepares its students to work in the real world. Carnegie Mellon is a young yet strong university that I am excited to be a part of.

In addition to Carnegie Mellon's versatile curriculum, I am even more fascinated by its lively student life on campus. The affluent, safe, lively, and convenient neighborhood promotes sophistication and security that I desire as a college student. I especially love having the choice to take classes at 10 other nearby colleges, while still receiving credits for Carnegie Mellon. The friendly relationships between colleges encourage me to explore other institutions while being a part of Carnegie Mellon. Moreover, with over 250 clubs and organizations on campus, a Scottie (what a cute mascot!) will always find a home. The unbelieving inclusive atmosphere and active spirits Scotties share energizes me to be part of them. Just as I get excited for Carnegie Mellon's active student life, my mind was completely blown when I discovered Buggy. This unique activity at Carnegie Mellon is exactly what I would love to participate in. Even though I watched numerous Buggy videos on YouTube, I hope to experience the exciting tradition myself and witness the moment with my own eyes.

Apart from on-campus life, off-campus life is as exciting. At the informational session, I learned about students' easy accesses to amazing cuisines, entertainment, and attractions are other reasons why I am attracted to Carnegie Mellon. Convenient access to museums and galleries allow artists like me to be more exposed to other forms of art outside of the classroom. If I prefer watching sports over the weekend, I can choose from the Steelers, the Pirates, or the Penguins. I will have to choose from tens of choices of international cuisines. I can attend concerts around the corner. I can watch fireworks and enjoy being a part of a crazy festival. I can already imagine myself enjoying life at Pittzsburgh while studying my passion at Carnegie Mellon. I cannot wish for a more fulfilling college life.

I look forward to sharing my ideas as well as listening to others' through the artistic language. I anticipate enriching my artistic skills and awareness by learning form creative colleagues and staff at Carnegie Mellon. I am ready to witness the Buggy race with my own eyes. With all the opportunities Carnegie Mellon offer, I cannot be happier to become apart of the Tartans.

Undergraduate / MIT short answers; I'm Asian/ my interest in coding/ my mentality [14]

I like your first response. It's really to-the-point, humorous, and clear to readers. I think you can elaborate on your third one a little further. Just add more details to show readers instead of just telling.

Undergraduate / 'An animator for Pixar Studios or Disney Animation Studios' - Carnegie Mellon [3]

Hi,

I agree with admission2012. I think you can add more details to your essay. You may want to be as specific as possible. You may want to talk more about the BXA program and how it attracts you because from what I know, not that many colleges have a BXA program like CMU offers. Hope this helps!

I desire the unlimited opportunities, individual attention, and creative atmosphere that USC offers to its students. I plan to enhance my understanding in architecture as well as expand my artistic expressions by choosing from a variety of electives. I hope to take advantage of what USC offers to expand my knowledge. I plan to focus on Eastern Asian Studies in my free electives, because I wanted to learn more about my family background.

In addition, I plan to participate in one of the many study-abroad programs USC offers. I anticipate meeting different creative artists and professors, as well as exploring cultures outside of my hometown. Not only that, USC offers a variety of clubs that students are free to choose from. I am confident that I will find a home at USC. I am looking forward to meeting many new faces and learning from them. Visiting USC strengthens my will to be a Trojan. As soon as I stepped into the Alumni Park, I was immediately mesmerized by its traditional yet inspirational atmosphere. The red-bricked buildings, the grass, the tiled-patterns, and the sidewalk cafĂŠ radiated with intellect and sophistication. These elements blended with each other and formed an environment that takes me away from downtown Los Angeles. When I stepped into the Edward L. Doheny Memorial Library, its massive marbled doors reminded me of St. Peter's church in Vatican City and the stairway to the lobby reminded me of Hogwarts in Harry Potter. At that moment, I immediately fell in love with USC. Each corner, corridor, and halls stimulate my imagination and creativity.

I am looking forward to contribute and share my ideas with creative colleagues and distinguishable faculty. I anticipate enriching my artistic skills and awareness by learning from my creative colleagues and teachers in USC. I am ready to expand my artistic expressions and be open to topics and discussions that I have not come across in high school. With the valuable lessons I learned at USC, I look forward to apply my knowledge and experience to an even broader audience in reality. With the endless opportunities USC offer, I can not be happier to be a Trojan.
