Undergraduate / Small campus/ Rosa Parks; BARNARD/ Why apply?/ Woman in history [4]

When I did my college research project junior year, I stumbled upon Barnard College. I discovered this all women college through the list of schools affiliated with Columbia.

As I looked into it, the environment of helping women become successful is what stood out to me.
What does this mean?

What is there not to love about a college that enables women to find an educational strength?
I personally hate rhetorical questions because sometimes it might not be obvious.

It would be a privilege to be able to take advantage of the opportunities Barnard gives through the liberal arts education. As a 17 year old young woman, I'm eager to find the best education that could lead towards a successful future and I'm positively sure that Barnard could do just that.

What opportunities? The dance? The theater?

Coming from a high school that has roughly 800 students, I feel that I would fit right in with the small campus. I would be able to have the opportunity to once again be part of a small community, despite being surrounded by such a large city.

I thought Barnard accepted around 2600 students...

Sorry, I could only get to one of them.

Undergraduate / Core Curriculum /Enlightening discussions ; COLUMBIA SUP/ Most Appealing [2]

Please tell us what you find most appealing about Columbia and why.

Because I had already decided to major in electrical engineering, I thought the courses I would take in college would be those focused around math and science. However, when I attended an information tour during the summer, my perception of my education changed. As I heard an alumni speak passionately about Columbia's Core Curriculum and the experience he got out from the rigorous program, I began to see my future from the eyes of a Columbia graduate. I began to want this experience for myself.

When he led us out to Butler Library, familiar names of Sophocles, Plato, Aristotle, and many other philosophers appeared on the façade of the building. As he explained why those names were chiseled into the building, I remembered the enjoyable yet enlightening discussions I had with Mr. Rodriguez, my AP World History teacher. At that moment, I realized that my knowledge in literature, in history, and in the arts and music is equally as important as my knowledge in math and science. I knew that I could not and would not be complete without a strong base in the humanities. Columbia's balance between the humanities and math and science in its curriculum is what I find most appealing.

Please be critical about the content. I'm not too worried with the grammar, although that would help. Thanks in advance.
