Graduate / "I was ranked at top 0.5%"; SOP - Metallurgical Engineering [3]

Dear all,
I got my master but I wanna apply for master's degree in metallurgical engineering in Germany again.
Here is my SOP and I would appreciate if you give comments, especially on the part I write about "why I want to apply for master's degree again? and why Germany", I mean the three last paragraphs.

Thank you all.

I wish to express my interest in applying for the international master's program offered by your esteemed university in "Metallurgical Engineering", scheduled for winter semester 2013. I appreciate this opportunity and I would like to provide further information about my personality and motivation.

By the end of my elementary school, being encouraged toward learning by my parent, fortunately, I had the great chance of being admitted for high school studies in XXX School under the supervision of XXX despite its highly competitive entrance exam and being trained under supervision of professional teachers, who helped me to discover my true likings and become familiar with the complicated world of science. When I graduated from high school, I was ranked at top 0.5% among more than 500,000 students taking Iranian national university entrance exam, and as a result, I was admitted into the Department ofXXX of XXX, which is one of the most prestigious MSE departments in Iran.

As an undergraduate student my research focus was on the "XXX". Beside of my interests in Welding processes, having a solid background of computer programming encouraged me to simulate a welding process. Although my supervisor, Dr. XXX, warned me about the difficulties of this project that I may face and stated that this project can be more than the expectancy of a Bachelor's thesis, I was sure that I could outperform in this job, due to my great interest and experiences in computer programming. In order to acquire a better insight and approach through my thesis, I voluntarily attend course with topic in "Advanced Simulation in Materials Engineering", a graduate course. Moreover, during my B.Sc. thesis, I got very well acquainted with FORTRAN programming language and ANSYS software. Having accomplished my thesis, I won the first prize of the 3rd annual competition for the most outstanding thesis in bachelor's degree at XXX.

In summer 2008, I participated in 5th competition of Heat Treatment in XXX, as the team leader. This experience not only trained me to work with different types of high temperature and atmosphere controlled furnace, but also taught me to behold to a scientific issue through the eye of industry need. Besides, I grasped the ability of the team management; and it was a precious experience of teamwork.

As a graduate student, my career was related to the surface engineering research area, consisted of working on surface modification of Titanium alloys by TIG hardfacing method. I carried out my master's thesis titled "XXX" under supervision of Professor XXX. This six-credit thesis consists of two phases: I)XXXXXXX and II) XXXXXX. My field of research paved my way to increase my knowledge not only about the welding and surface properties, but also about heat treatment, casting, and forming of Titanium.

During my undergraduate studies I passed NDT training course certificates (VT & RT), and then I decided to hold this class at XXX. This determination ended in 6 prosperous classes and more than 60 graduated students. I also taught VT course which are always suggested for ones wanting to gain the NDT set certificate. Teaching this course made me mastered in welding metallurgy of steels. Holding these courses enforced my managerial abilities to have a better insight of considering many aspects at the same time. It was a precious experience of leadership. Furthermore, I have been teaching computer programming at XXX school for two years. I also have taught Adobe CS Flash, Theory of Games, and fun with Metals as extra-curricular courses for students. I enjoyed teaching students, for every second of it was challenging and helped me to practice the skills needed for teaching.

In every man's life there are moments in which crucial decisions should be taken. In case of a recently graduated individual like me, that decision would be whether to start working in the industry or continuing study. No matter which of these decisions I make at the end, I believe that a strong background of knowledge in my field of study and profession play an important role in being successful. Unfortunately, comparing with world academic standards, I have not been satisfied by the curriculum represented in my undergraduate and graduate studies. I want to be exposed to pure knowledge and essential skills which meet my desire to be professional and to achieve my goals. In this case, I have found the international master's program of Metallurgical Engineering at XXX University highly promising for my both academic and social future. Moreover, I had contact with some graduate students and the ones who have been graduated from this program, and consequently, I have been emboldened to apply to. Since the Metallurgical Engineering Program at XXX University offers a well-designed curriculum, this program is very impressive and appealing to me; and it will help me learn pure knowledge of Metallurgy and practical applications of Materials processing. In addition, dynamic and practical courses of this program demonstrate the industrial nature of it which empower students broaden the horizon of their knowledge.

Why Germany? No doubt, Germany has always been pioneer and leader in the world of technology. Germany avails the advantages of securing the best of knowledge, quality of education, life style, and above all, the international exposure. I believe that research based Master's program in Germany will enable me to access to the most recent technologies, well-formed infrastructures and the opportunity to learn from faculties who are working on the edge of recent developments.

Finally, I believe that attending the Metallurgical Engineering Master's Program at XXX University will fulfill my dreams of becoming a knowledgeable and successful person. Regarding my academic and interpersonal skills, I am sure to be able to outperform in this program and make an effective contribution to both my fellow students and the XXX University.
