Undergraduate / 'Chemistry has always fascinated me' University of Toronto-Engineering Essay [NEW]

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could read over my essay that I've prepared for the University of Toronto for Engineering and if you comment on how I could make my conclusion stronger. Thanks!

What has inspired you to pursue an engineering degree and why would you like to study at the University of Toronto?
What skills have you developed through your extra-curricular experiences that will support your future success as both a student and an engineer?
Your essay should not exceed 3000 characters (including spaces and punctuation).

Chemistry has always fascinated me. The fact that millions of microscopic atoms, molecules and compounds create everything we interact with daily is captivating. Studying the interactions, properties and capabilities of these astonishingly minuscule atoms and particles, truly mesmerizes me. In addition to my interest in chemistry, I also consider myself as an environmentalist because of my strong passion of preserving our planet for our future generations which translates to my acts, such as planting trees with my church group. Given both my skill and love for chemistry and my values of environmental preservation, I plan to pursue Chemical Engineering as a field of education and career path. Instead of only studying concepts and answering the unanswered questions in chemistry like chemists mainly do, I want to use chemistry as a tool and apply my knowledge of these concepts to contribute more explicitly to maintaining the environment. I want to create a cleaner environment through the means of improving upon current operations and processes which will result in improvements of efficiency and environmental protection. With the combination of my skills in the chemical field and my passion to create a greener planet, there is no doubt in my mind that Chemical Engineering is the career path I need and want to choose in order to make a difference in the world.

Despite the fact that I have an ambition and success in my grades, these things can only take me so far. However, a recognized and remarkable university like the University of Toronto with outstanding professors and valuable opportunities would be able to complete my journey. The significantly beneficial programs that interest me include the Professional Experience Year (PEY) program and the summer research programs. By enrolling in the PEY program and summer research program, I believe that this will give me an opportunity to work in professional environments which translates to valuable, real world experience that I know will be a major contribution in my success and future career. In addition to these beneficial programs, the overwhelming number of 90 student clubs related to engineering intrigue me as well. I believe that out of the vast number of clubs, there must be at least a few that will interest me and further develop and give me opportunities to actually apply my knowledge to projects or even allow me to obtain new skills. With my massive magnitude of passion and skill and an outstanding institution like the University of Toronto, there is no doubt in my mind that this will be a winning combination that will allow me to excel to the fullest of my potential and allow me to make the contributions that I want on humanity.

Throughout my long term volunteering position at the YMCA, extracurricular activities and school clubs, these experiences enabled me to develop specific skills such as time management, improved social interaction skills and problem solving in order to have coherence between school work and these activities. These skills will only prove to be valuable in my years of a student and engineer. Skills such as time management and problem solving will enable me to work efficiently and allow me to manage my workload with multiple courses and clubs that I plan to join. In addition, my social skills of interacting with others developed from my Sales Associate position at the YMCA will enable me as a student, to interact flawlessly and effectively communicate to other students if, for instance, I were to provide extra help and tutor others. In addition, I believe strongly in positivity and I believe that my natural friendly interactions between other students with only contribute to the already positive environment for others while studying at the university.

When I think about universities, these institutions are a major contributing factor in one's career path and future. Universities can allow one to either succeed or fail. That is why I believe enrolling the University of Toronto is the right decision. With a university that offers the perfect learning experience for students through an overwhelming number of clubs and distinguished opportunities that allows students to excel, I strongly believe that being enrolled into the University of Toronto will allow me to succeed and will be my first step in making a worldwide impact.
