Undergraduate / Stevenson University Transfer - Julius Caesar/ CAREER GOALS [3]

Thank you

And this: "I am a first year community college student seeking to transfer and major in public history. The topic of this essay is my academic career and career goals. I am honestly not a good writer and you might even be able to tell from this essay. But please let me know what you think. Thank you."

wasn't part of my essay. It was just some background info.

Undergraduate / Stevenson University Transfer - Julius Caesar/ CAREER GOALS [3]

I am a first year community college student seeking to transfer and major in public history. The topic of this essay is my academic career and career goals. I am honestly not a good writer and you might even be able to tell from this essay. But please let me know what you think. Thank you.

It is said that Julius Caesar once visited a statue of Alexander the Great and wept in front of it. He was said to have wept because he realized that at the age when Alexander conquered the entire known world, he had almost nothing to compare with him.

This deep ambition that embodied Julius Caesar is precisely the reason I am seeking a BA in public history from Stevenson University. Since I was a child I have been fascinated by the dramatic and sometimes horrifying, yet insightful, stories that one can gather from the study of history. I was dragged in by the sheer excitement of the dramas. I remember at one point I was on my knees begging my parents to take me to The Smithsonian. My passion for history stayed even stronger in high school. I was certain a career in history was for me.

I visited Stevenson University in my junior year in high school and when I first heard about public history I was hesitant. I didn't think it was the kind of major I wanted to pursue. Pure history seemed to be the best choice for me. But as I thought about it more I began to realize that this is a major that will be incredibly sought after in the future, a major that incorporates both history and the means of communicating it to larger audiences. Our world today is seeing a huge increase in multimedia. And as a fan of history I have noticed an increase in the number of online video games and movies associated with history. Movies such as 300, Gladiator, and more recently Mister Peabody are prime examples of the future of history majors. This is why I am seeking a bachelor's and eventually a master's degree in public history. After I have acquired my BA I will then seek employment working in a media or consulting firm. But that is just a stepping stone for me. My long term career goal after acquiring a master's in public history is to start my own media consulting firm.

My goal isn't to conquer the entire known world. But every day I try to get that same level of ambition. If I can maintain that same mindset Julius Caesar had then eventually I can turn my passion for history into an exciting career.
