Writing Feedback / UK: significant increase in the using of debit cards and a steady rise in the using of credit cards [4]

The graph shows non-cash transactions by method of payment such as debit cards, cheques credit and charge cards in the United Kingdom between from 1991 to 2007.

There were a significant increase in the using of debit cards and a steady rise in the using of credit and charge cards. Debit cards were the most popular method of payment at the middle of the period, and using reached a peak of about five billions in about 2007. In 1993, the using of credit and charge cards exceeded that of debit cards for the first time, but during the period of 2004 and 2005 there were a slight decline in the using of credit and charge cards, which seems set to continue a stable increase. There has been a marked decline of using cheques untill 2007 then, so that by about 2002 they were less popular than either debit cards or charge cards.
