Some people regard video games as harmless fun, or even as a useful educational tool. Others, however, believe that video games are having an adverse effect on the people who play them. In your opinion, do the drawbacks of video games outweigh the benefits.
In recent years, video games has increased its popularity around the world. This has aroused considerable controversy in society as some people thinks video games are harmful while others believe that people can be benefited a lot from video games. Personally, I think that the drawbacks of video games totally outweigh the benefits.
We cannot deny the use of video games as a way to relax as well as to educate. However, video games have notorious impacts on players. The most severe one is the increase of diseases. Playing video games requires players to sit all day, thereby making them not have time to exercise, which results in a rise in the number of obese people. In addition, having to stare at the screen for a long time leads players to be short-sighted or have other eyes problems. Other diseases and health problems such as diabetes also become more popular.
Another result of playing too much video games is the rise of violence, especially among teenagers. People spending most of their time on playing game often behave like their characters. Many even start to think that life in reality is no different from that in the games. I once read a story about a boy who killed his grandmother and thought that she would revive like a game character.
Other people would be less prejudiced against video games if players try not to be affected by games. In order to do that, players should learn to balance their time and beside playing entertaining games, they should try educative ones as well.
