Link your background to what degree and career you would like to do. What interests do you have that has lead you to this conclusion?

Something like....I struggled through poverty as a child and through this, I developed sympathy and the desire to assist people that struggle to climb the social and economic ladder in this country. It drives my passion to help others and has helped me come to the realization that I want to make a career out of helping people in any way I can. Therefore I have chosen to pursue a degree in social work and hope to attend your esteemed social program at "whatever" University. I feel that your undergraduate program can help me in yada yada ways and so forth....get it?
