Study Objectives - I would like to learn about polymers in an engineering context [3]
Hello, guys
I am trying to get a scholarship program from Brazil to study in the USA. I have to write many essays and I want to know if someone could help me with this one. Probably, there are some gramatical mistakes and confusing lines, but I have to send it ultil sunday and I am a little desesperate haha So, the prompt is:
Study Objectives: In an essay of no less than 250 words and no more than 500 words, write a clear and detailed description of your study objectives. Be specific about your field of study and your specialized interests within this field.Study Objectives
I am currently studying Chemical Engineering at the Federal University of XXX XXXX, one of the best Latin American institutions. The course has provided me the practical and theoretical knowledge that I need to improve my career. However, I believe that many universities in the USA can provide me more interdisciplinary courses, which are closer to professional situations.
At the present time, I am working on research that studies the zinc recovery from zinc ore in partnership with a mining industry, which helps me to be inside of the "academic and industrial world". However, since I was in high school, I express interest in the area of polymers, and in the current year I attended Organic Chemistry classes where I learned a little about polymer synthesis, and my interest has further grown.
During the program in the USA, I intend to take polymers-related classes and to deepen my knowledge in this subject. For this reason, I want to study Polymer Engineering in light of the fact that it would be possible to apply this magnificent science on engineering context. In addition, the possibility to attend Polymer Process classes would be a value opportunity due to the fact that in my university do not offer this course.
Another field that I am interested to study is about oil and petrochemical compounds, partly due to the "pre-salt" layer discovered in Brazil. The oil industry received more attention and investments and I hope to work in this field someday (in the oil refining process or in the production of polymers). With the purpose of gaining knowledge about oil matters, I want to study Introduction to Petroleum Engineering.
As I said at the beginning, I believe that interdisciplinary courses, which are still not found in Brazil, are important to give a complete formation. I think that one of the greatest advantages of the Science Without Borders program is the opportunity to attend class concerning Biology and computational approaches in my area.
In conclusion, I would like to learn about polymers in an engineering context and how to apply it in various scientific fields, once I believe that the polymer utilities are beyond the current knowledge about it. From the researches and studies, it is possible to found new ways to make life easier introducing the polymers in the daily life and I want to be part of it.
