Grammar, Usage / How to use quotation marks at the end of a sentence. [14]
Put quotations marks in your explanation around a specific word or phrase; using appropriate grammar
In a literary essay when you are explaining your proof (dialogue) are you only suppose to put quotations marks in your explanation around a specific word or phrase from the dialogue you used in your essay or are you allowed to also put quotation marks around a specific word or phrase that is not from the dialogue within the essay but within the story you are referencing.
For example:
Proof/Dialogue: "Tom was in his backyard sitting still, his face void of any expression, toys surrounding him untouched."
Explanation: Tom sitting in his backyard completely still and doing nothing shows that he was either taken into another dimensional world, or he was troubled by something so severe that he completely blanked out as his face was "rarely" ever so "empty and scary blank".
