Scholarship / Why and what motivates you to volunteer for Bina Antarbudaya? > volunteer exchange scholarship [3]
As as teacher in Langsa, I see many students around me who have lack of opportunity and information regarding this such precious program. Langsa is 439 away from Banda, I think it is one of factor why we have less well-informed, since all the selection process should be in Banda. A couple of years ago, I met Fathun in one of occasion in Banda. By the time we are getting closer, he introduced me AFS-YES program as well as Bina Antar Budaya deeply. The objective of this foundation to have student experience intercultural learning suits my desire. I completely understand such experience will bring positively contribution to the participant particularly my students. Since 2010, I decided to join and help Bina Antarbudaya Chapter Banda Aceh socialize the program to 32 schools in Aceh Tamiang, Langsa and Aceh Timur. Fathun trusts me as a project officer to conduct selection process in these 3 districts since 2012 and now students in my place have known and participated this program or at least we have equal chance to know and participate as other students across Indonesia. This chance to show that we can have come, in 2012 Siti Maisarah from SMAN 1 Langsa succeeded joining KIZUNA, 2013 Maya Nur Indah (SMAN 1 Langsa) and Silvia Niranda (MA Ulumul Quran) were finalist YES program. This successful is continuing, 2014 Muhammad Ihsan (SMAN 1 Langsa) and Irda Dzulianda (MA Ulumul Quran) advance to national selection this November. I put a big hope to those students can inspire other more students around as well as motive them study harder as I dream before. So, I surely believe my involvement in Bina Antarbudaya will benefit much to student development in the place where I live now.
