The vivid images of the days running around downtown with my cousins, dancing to the beat of the playing guitars, and devouring our "elotes" that we bought from the nice old man in the corner of the street are still embedded in my mind. But now, abandoned stores remain, silence consumes the streets, and no child is doing to things I had once done. It is agonizing to watch such a beautiful country crumble because of the rising violence. As I step foot into the country I had once loved and felt secure in, I feel now fear, anger, and betrayal.
